Journaling is something that has always been super near and dear to my heart. I do not journal to just throw some thoughts down in a "Dear Diary" type of format. I journal because it helps me process things.
Some may say I am sort of on the shy side. Sometimes, I hate telling people my real thoughts. Journaling has been an outlet for me, helped calm anxiety attacks, allowed me to write down my prayers, and taught me to actually process what is happening every day instead of throwing it to the side of my thoughts for later.
I really really encourage you to make it a habit to journal. You do not have to talk to your diary, just write, write anything. Putting a pen to paper can seem like a foreign concept now a' days, but it is the most liberating thing. I invite you to join along side my in journaling and in order to help keep myself on track with this as well, I will be posting things I am thankful for every Friday on my blog. This is one thing I did when I first started journaling. I would write down what I am thankful for, in order to start the day with a grateful heart. You do not need to be a professional writer to throw your thoughts on a page. You can do it. Trust me, I understand it can feel a little weird at first to just write, but you won't regret it.
